So yesterday was Gavin's first soccer game!! He scored our first goal of the season! And I think he may have scored 2 himself and assisted another!! The team is doing great! But Gavin just rocks!!! He could definately be a pro soccer player! We will see!
He is still doing great in school, of course!!! He has grown to love reading!!! He also loves cooking/baking. Today he wanted to make grilled cheese for lunch, but it was kind of a mess, however I made a deal with him....he can cook dinner one night this week! So, one night this week, probably Wednessday he is going to make grilled cheese and tomato soup all by himself! :) A night off from cooking sound fantastic!
Recently we had a Mommy/son date night. It consisted of watching a movie at home (that's what he picked). We watched Jack and Jill...didn't love it. But we had a great time cuddling! Soon I want to take him out on a mommy/son date!!

Today Gavin and I had fun making his Valentine Gifts for school! Yes we were last minute!!! But none the less, successful!!! We made Chocolate Bling Rings for the girls....
And we made "Kool"-aid gifts for the boys... they say Happy Valentine's Day to one "kool" Dude!
Gavin is one cool little dude!! So glad to have him around and part of our awesome family!!! He is excited to give his gifts! He was trying to decide tonight which friend was going to like them the most, because they were all going to like these!!!

Gavin's Lesson jar is ready....I will attach my excel sheet as soon as I learn how. :) I have 2 Peanut Butter jars (reduce, reuse, recycle) One will say "Lesson" and it will contain the disciplinary actions, the other will say "Learned". When he does something that need disciplinary actions he will draw a "lesson" from the jar once preformed he will place it in the "learned" jar...hoping he has learned his lesson!
Tonight we all sat down and explained the Lesson Learned jars! Our first action we will be addressing on a regular basis is: Listening the First Time. As a 7yr old we expect him to do as he is asked without questioning. He has an issue with trying to avoid tasks/requests. Keep posted.

Gavin is currently working on a Black History report on Steven Wilson?? I may have his subject wrong, I will have to correct myself later. ;) He is doing a good job, thanks to Daddy's help!
We just received reportcards and of course he had an outstanding report!!! Down here they don't give real grades until 3rd grade....but he received ultimately all A's! Quite an impressive little man he is, as he is reading at a 4.7 grade level....YES that is almost a 5th grade level! That means he can also comprehend that level. Woohoo Gavin! That must have come from the grace of God! :)
Unfortunately we are having to use a new discipline method. Gavin is a great little boy, but he decided he should question authority a bit more than usual lately. He is a sensitive little boy, so yelling just makes him cry-no lesson learned, and we aren't fond of spanking. Rewards don't motivate him, nor does taking items/privileges away. SOooo, Thanks to Pinterest we are using a new method....so far so good! I found this idea and modified it for discipline!
We took an old peanut butter jar, or a wipey box would work...printed a list of disciplinary actions that include such: write 20 sentences "I will honor and obey my parents", 20 jumping jacks, Put nose in a corner for 5minutes, Sit in bed and read the remainder of day, wash baseboards of one room.... It also contains 2 Mercy strips. These strips are just blank strips of paper. These are to show that even God has mercy of those who sin. :)
this weekend he did not get his room clean, then he left cardboard and a Marine coin in the pocket of his laundry. (his chore to sort and clean pockets, then hang clothes once clean)....he hurried through his chores so he could play and watch tv. So his punishment was to clean his bathroom tiles with vinegar water and a toothbrush...just a few squares, to learn a lesson.
Gavin!!! Well he is a 7 year old boy. My Husband would say he is a momma's boy. :) And he is. We were on our own for 5 years, so of course he is a momma's boy! He is very smart!!! Loves math and science! Learned to ride a 2-wheeler the first day he got his bike! At the begining of 2nd grade he was reading at a 2.5 grade level (2.0 was what he should be reading at). He loves to play soccer and that Daddy coaches! He goes back and forth on what he wants to be when he grows up...a Marine or a carpenter. Sometimes he says he wants to be a chef. Did I forget to mention how much this boy loves to cook?? This Christmas he got 3 or 4 cookbooks, a donut maker, an ice cream maker, and he couldn't wait to use them!!!
